Marissa Flynn is a coach with Williamsville Stampede Field Hockey and is currently in her fifth season with the club.
Flynn attended Nichols School in Buffalo, New York, where she played high school field hockey, ice hockey, and lacrosse. She also played club field hockey with the Knuckleheads before continuing her playing career at Mercyhurst University, competing in Division II field hockey. A four-year starter, she finished in the top three on her team in point scoring all four years as a defender. Flynn was named Rookie of the Year as a freshman, earned Third Team All-PSAC honors, and played in the NCAA Division II All-Star Game her senior year.
After graduating in 2015, Flynn began her coaching career at Clarence Middle School as a modified field hockey and lacrosse coach. The following season she moved up to the JV level, and later coached at the varsity level at Clarence High School for six seasons from 2017–2022. She is a three-time ECIC Coach of the Year recipient. In her six-season career as a head varsity coach, her teams compiled an overall record of 89-8-1, reached five Class A Section VI championships, won two Section VI Class A championships, captured two Far West Regional Championships, and made two appearances in the NYSPHSAA State Tournament.
Flynn is also active in growing the game locally and has coached youth clinics in Clarence for 10 years. She served on the Nexus Selection Camp staff in 2022, 2023, and 2024. In 2023, Flynn stepped away from her coaching position at Clarence as she and her husband welcomed their first child, and she recently welcomed their second child as well.
When she is not coaching, she enjoys adventures near and far with her husband and their two young children.
